'Fallen' mini TV Series
I have been watching a lot of stuff online lately as a form of procrastination to keep me from doing work. If you have read my blog 'Alien invasion? I'm the first one to die' you will know that I especially like watching things that have a hint of surrealism. So I came across 'Fallen' whilst browsing through my favorite TV streaming site. It only consists of 3 episodes so I thought I'd give it a shot. You can guess from the name that it is all about Fallen Angels, Nephilims etc.
It revolves a lot around John Milton's 'Paradise Lost' which consists of the fall of Lucifer and his army of angels after their rebellion in Paradise. I studied the poem for my A-Levels and can't exactly say that I loved it. I struggeled to understand the language used the majority of the time, but once you get the grip of it, it is an extremely intriguing piece of literature. At some points the reader even finds themselves sympathising with the Devil for his damnation.
'Fallen' is about an 18 year old boy who discoveres that he is a nephilim. A nephilim is a half breed of angel and human. I am tempted to write the whole stotyline but don't want to spoil it for some who are actually considering watching it. It has an amazing twist towards the end and makes you think about whether such things actually exist. Whether these so called 'Fallen Angels' could actually be among us. And I absolutely like watching/reading things that evoke such questions to which you will probably never know the answer to. For those of you who like this kinda stuff, give it a go. It's only 3 episodes

RHCP in London town!
My love for the Red Hot Chili Peppers started when I was 13 and had just moved to the UK. I lived with my grandparents and aunty and was still trying to settle down properly with the new culture, school, basically everything. Whilst browsing through my Aunty's CD collection, I came across their 5th album called 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' and was extremely attracted to the rather intriguing artwork. So I gave it a listen. I remember precisely that I especially liked Track no 11 'Under the bridge' and listened to it 10x a day without a doubt. Soon, I started listening to all their albums on youtube and decided that I was not only in love with the words of their songs that sometimes made no sense at all but also the rough looking, rebel, drug addicted (back then), lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis.
I remember watching the video to their song 'Californication' over and over again, completely mesmerised by him. You could say it was a typical teenage - celebrity crush, blinded by the fact that I would propably never get to see him in flesh and blood. A girl can only hope hey?
Soon after that they pretty much became my favourite band, beating Three Days Grace. My favourite one-liners have got to be:
"My Radio's my heart"
"Music the great communicator"
"Destruction leads to a very rough road but it also breeds creation"
"I mingle with the gods, I mingle with divinity"
"Can't stop the gods from engineering"
"This life is more than just a read thru"
And many more - these are the only ones I can think of at the moment :) So, this leads me to the title of this blog. Red Hot Chili Peppers are in fact, coming to London this November and I have no tickets! To begin with, none of my friends are RHCP fans and I did not want to go on my own. And by the time I found out that I did actually have 2 friends that liked them, the tickets sold out. I did however enter a competition to win 2 tickets to their gig in Camden town, so lets all just pray I win :)
The new Album 'I'm with you' will be released on the 30th August - I will have a special Blog update about that once I have bought it

Give a shit
I have recently come across a charity organisation which I truly believe in. It does not ask you for money, but simply to give a shit about matters that have negative effects on peoples lives, environment and even wildlife.
The idea is that whenever you are actually 'taking a shit', you should 'give a shit' about a particular cause and share it on a social network site, showing your support. This in my opinion is particularly aimed at the younger generation - kids who can not afford to support a charity but do spend the majority of ther free time on social network sites. Wouldn't this be the ideal way to show that you care and think about drugs, aids, child abuse, disabilities, pollution, domestic violence, bullying etc. You don't neccessarily have to take physical actions to show your concern about these matters. Thinking about them and sharing the fact that you are, is enough to raise awareness.

Alien Invasion? I'm the first one to die
I've started watching this series called 'Falling Skies' online. It's not your typical Alien invasion movie. It evokes thoughts about what one would actually do if an event like that would occur.
Watching all the characters on the program made me think. Let's say our planet did get invaded, or you were simply put in a situation where you would have to run/hide and protect yourself from something that is threatening you, what skills would you rely upon in order to survive? Personally, I don't really think I have any to be completely honest with myself! I'm not studying for a medicine degree so I wouldn't necessarily be able to offer anyone help in that department. I don't know how to use a gun or fight proplerly (certainly can not rely on the minimal kung fu/tae kwon do training I had) so I wouldn't be able to defend myself or others. I wouldn't really call myself particularly brave either. But again, you could argue that when being put into life threatening situations, your character may change and you may find yourself doing things that you didn't know you were capable of doing. How is a Law degree going to help me to survive if Aliens attack?! How is being able to play the piano, eat like a world champion or double cross my legs going to help me save the planet?
Well, I don't know. Let's just hope our planet does not get attacked by Aliens. And in case it does, I hope that I magically end up in a group with people who have all the skills one would need to survive. Yes, this is what I have been thinking about at 2am on a Tuesday morning.
First time in 'Forever 21'
A close friend of mine went to New York recently and kept going on about this shop called 'Forever 21' which is apparently the most popular female clothing store over there. When asking her which stores she would compare it to, she said H&M. People who know me, know that the majority of clothes I own, are from H&M. You could call me a H&M hero, literally.
Only today I found out that actually, we have a Forever 21 store in the UK. In London. On Oxford Street. 15 minutes underground ride from where I live. So, whilst at Oxford Circus, I decided that I had to check that place out.
In a nutshell, I loved it. The prices are absolutely amazing and the clothes are fantabulous. You could certainly compare it to H&M, only Forever 21 seemed a bit more colourful and if I dare say, cheaper. The changing rooms were perfect, the staff was friendly, they sell lingerie. Basically, if you like H&M, Bershka, Pull &Bear and that kinda stuff, you will love Forever 21.
Overall, I have to say that Forever 21 is officially my favourite store. I will recommend it to everyone. It's affordable, modern and chic.

Welcome Me!
So, I decided to start blogging again. I tend to lose interest in things very quickly, so lets just hope that I get further than 2 blog posts this time! I will, like the majority of other bloggers on here, blog about everything and anything. From Student life to fashion, from H&M changing room rants to every day issues. I can promise that I can not promise it will not be boring. If that made sense to you, I will like you.
Shall we start with a little introduction? Because who doesn't love talking about themselves. I am a 19, study Law at Oxford Brookes University and love it. My parents are originally Kurdish (which is basically a mix of a lot of things), but I was born and raised in Germany. So whenever people ask me whether I prefer Turkey or Germany, I end up boring them with a long speech. In a nutshell, I see Germnay as my mother. I was born there, brought up there, nurtured there, made friends there, learned how to become me. Turkey on the other hand, is my Father. It's where I stem from, where my roots are, my culture, my habits. Well, it makes sense to me anyway!
In my free time, I enjoy playing the Piano (sometimes the Guitar too), collecting stamps (yes, geek alert), writing (I worked for the BBC) and all those other things people my age enjoy.
I guess thats it for now. You will surely get a better idea of who I am when I decide to update this blog more often. Until then, adios. Stay at school kids
